A telehealth clinic that lists sildenafil or tadalafil capsules at $49 a month, the lowest monthly figure we found.
Sildenafil or tadalafil capsules $49/mo on a 3-month plan (provider-published, verify current)
Check price →Read review ↓The short answer: Ro publishes a per-dose price list, and Hims publishes "starting at" monthly prices. On October 30, 2026, Ro listed generic sildenafil from $4 a dose (25 mg, 8-dose monthly minimum, billed $32 a month) and Hims listed its generic for Viagra from $22 a month. Both also sell compounded products that are not FDA-approved: Hims Hard Mints and chews, and Ro Sparks and Daily Rise Gummies. Ro is the easier of the two to price before you sign up. Hims has the lower advertised entry price and more combination products.
ED Samples is independent. Neither Hims nor Ro is one of our partners, and this page has no affiliate link to either. We may earn a commission from the alternative providers listed further down, and that never changes how we describe Hims or Ro. Roman is Ro's original men's health brand name, so "Hims vs Roman" and "Hims vs Ro" are the same comparison.
This article is educational and is not medical advice. It is for adults 18 and older. ED medications require a consultation with a licensed clinician, who decides whether anything is prescribed. Prices change, so confirm current pricing on hims.com and ro.co before you order.

01 · Lowest per-tablet price on the FDA-approved generic, below Hims and Ro
Lowest Per-Tablet PriceNu Image Medical ED Tablets
A telehealth clinic founded in 2004, online since 2008 and available in all 50 states, that lists FDA-approved generic sildenafil and tadalafil tablets alongside compounded combination options.
Clinical oversight: Per-tablet prices published on the provider's own men's sexual performance page, with each product labeled FDA-approved or compounded. Every order is subject to a medical consultation and ships only if a licensed U.S. provider prescribes it.
Nu Image Medical is a telehealth clinic that says it was founded in 2004, has operated online since 2008 and is available in all 50 states. Its men's sexual performance line lists four options (all provider-published): a generic sildenafil tablet as low as $3 per tablet and a generic tadalafil tablet as low as $5 per tablet, both FDA-approved and both priced on a 12-month supply; a compounded sildenafil plus tadalafil rapid-dissolve tablet as low as $4 per tablet on a 5-month supply; and the compounded Mt. Everest program (tadalafil, oxytocin and PT-141) from $4 per tablet on a 5-month supply.
You share your goals online, a licensed U.S. provider reviews them, and medication ships discreetly only if it is prescribed.

What we like
- Lowest published per-tablet price we track on FDA-approved generics
- Each product labeled FDA-approved or compounded
- Available in all 50 states
Worth noting
- Lowest prices require a 12-month supply
- Combination and Mt. Everest products are compounded, not FDA-approved
Who should buy it: Adults 18+ who want an FDA-approved generic tablet at a low per-tablet price and are comfortable buying a multi-month supply.
What we don't like: The lowest prices depend on a 12-month supply, so the up-front cost is higher than a one-month order, and the combination products are compounded rather than FDA-approved.
Bottom line: If you want the FDA-approved generic tablet and are fine buying a longer supply, Nu Image lists the lowest per-tablet prices we track: sildenafil as low as $3 and tadalafil as low as $5. The low figures are tied to a 12-month supply, so check the up-front total before you pay.

HealthyMale
A long-running US men's-health pharmacy whose new-customer intro pricing on FDA-approved generics is the nearest legitimate equivalent to a free sample.
Clinical oversight: Verifiable accreditation (VIPPS pharmacies, LegitScript, HIPAA) and unusually transparent itemized pricing; intro offers rotate through its promotional channels, so confirm the current one on the site before you order.
HealthyMale is one of the longest-operating men's-health telehealth pharmacies in the US, reporting operations since 1998 and pairing US-licensed physicians with VIPPS-certified pharmacies. It matters for this page for one reason: its published pricing and rotating new-customer offers get closer to "free sample" territory than anything else we could verify in this category.
What the intro offer looks like. Through its promotional and affiliate channels, HealthyMale has advertised introductory bundles for first-time customers in the style of 20 generic ED pills for $39. That works out to roughly two dollars a dose for FDA-approved generic medication, prescribed by a licensed physician, from an accredited pharmacy. Intro offers rotate and terms change, so treat that as an example of the style of offer rather than a quote, and verify the current deal on the HealthyMale site.
Access runs through a phone consultation with a US-licensed physician, and a prescription is issued only at the clinician's discretion, which is exactly what a legitimate offer should require. For trust signals, the site displays LegitScript verification, HIPAA compliance, and VIPPS-certified pharmacies.

- Subscription
- None forced, a-la-carte ordering

What we like
- Advertised new-customer intro bundles, the closest verifiable thing to a free ED sample
- FDA-approved generic sildenafil and tadalafil from ~$20 at regular prices
- Free doctor consultation advertised with purchase
- No forced subscription; VIPPS, LegitScript, and HIPAA trust signals
Worth noting
- No literally free product, a consult and purchase are still required
- Intro offers rotate, the exact bundle changes, verify before ordering
- Phone consult rather than on-demand video
Who should buy it: Adults 18+ who came looking for a free sample and want the legitimate near-equivalent: a low-cost first order of FDA-approved generics from an accredited pharmacy, with an advertised free consult and no subscription commitment.
What we don't like: Intro offers rotate and are not always identical, so the exact bundle you see may differ from what was advertised elsewhere; the consult is by phone rather than video.
Bottom line: If you searched for free ED samples, this is the offer to check first: HealthyMale has advertised introductory bundles for new customers in the style of 20 generic ED pills for $39, pairs them with an advertised free physician consultation with purchase, and sells FDA-approved generics from around $20 with no subscription. Verify the current intro offer on its site, promotions change.
03 · One flat monthly price for sildenafil or tadalafil
Lowest Monthly PriceBayan Health ED Capsules
A telehealth clinic that lists sildenafil or tadalafil capsules at $49 a month, the lowest monthly figure we found.
Clinical oversight: Price published on the provider's own men's sexual health page; prescribing happens after an online intake reviewed by a licensed clinician. Capsules are a pharmacy-prepared format, so ask whether yours are compounded.
Bayan Health is a telehealth clinic whose men's sexual health line lists sildenafil or tadalafil capsules at $49 per month each on a 3-month subscription, alongside a combination "performance stack" (all provider-published). You complete an online intake, a licensed clinician reviews it, and medication ships only if it is prescribed.

- Approved partner
- Published price

- Consult
- Online intake reviewed by a licensed clinician
- Subscription
- Yes, 3-month plan
What we like
- Lowest published monthly price we track
- Fully online intake
- Also offers the other PDE5 option if a clinician prefers it
Worth noting
- 3-month subscription, not a one-time trial
- Dose per capsule not listed on the category page
- Capsule format may be compounded, confirm before ordering
Who should buy it: Adults 18+ who want a flat monthly price and are comfortable committing to a 3-month plan.
What we don't like: The $49 figure is tied to a 3-month subscription, the page does not list the dose per capsule, and capsules may be compounded rather than the FDA-approved generic tablet.
Bottom line: If you want a predictable monthly cost rather than a per-pill price, Bayan lists sildenafil or tadalafil capsules at $49 a month on a 3-month plan. It is not a sample, and the plan length matters, but it is the lowest monthly number on a provider's own page among the options we track.
04 · A live video visit, then fill a generic at any pharmacy
Best Single-Visit OptionDrHouse
An on-demand video telehealth platform where a single visit, possibly covered by insurance, gets you a real prescription you can fill cheaply at any pharmacy.
Clinical oversight: LegitScript-approved and HIPAA-compliant with stated 50-state availability and a published visit price; the medication cost depends on the drug and pharmacy you pick, so the total is in your control but not fixed up front.
DrHouse approaches the sample question from the other side: instead of bundling medication, it makes the clinical visit itself fast and low-commitment. It is an on-demand telehealth platform, LegitScript-approved and HIPAA-compliant, available in all 50 states, where the company states a provider can join a video visit in roughly 15 minutes.
Why that matters for sample hunters. The ED visit is listed at $129 or your insurance copay, and DrHouse states insurance may cover the visit. When clinically appropriate, the physician e-prescribes sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil, avanafil, or alprostadil to the pharmacy of your choice, where the medication is priced separately. Generic sildenafil and tadalafil are inexpensive at many US pharmacies, especially with discount programs, so a copay visit plus a small generic fill can be one of the cheapest compliant ways to start.
DrHouse does not prescribe controlled substances, and a prescription is never guaranteed, the clinician decides. If you want an all-in bundle with medication included, HealthyMale's model will feel simpler; if you want clinical speed and pharmacy flexibility, DrHouse is the one.

- Consult
- On-demand video visit (~15 min), all 50 states

- Subscription
- None
- Credentials
- LegitScript-approved, HIPAA-compliant
What we like
- One-time visit, no subscription or auto-ship
- Insurance may cover the visit, potentially reducing it to a copay
- E-prescribes to any pharmacy, so you can shop the lowest generic price
- Fast: provider joins by video in about 15 minutes, per the company
Worth noting
- Medication priced separately, no bundled total
- Visit fee applies regardless of the prescribing decision
- No physical product ever ships from DrHouse itself
Who should buy it: Adults 18+ who want a one-time, no-subscription evaluation from a licensed physician, would like the chance to put insurance toward the visit, and are comfortable filling a generic prescription at their own pharmacy.
What we don't like: You have to price the medication yourself at the pharmacy, so there is no single all-in number to compare, and the visit fee applies even if the clinician decides medication is not appropriate.
Bottom line: The smart pick if your real question behind 'free samples' is 'what would this cost me to just try, once': one video visit at $129 or your copay, no subscription, and an e-prescription you can fill as a cheap generic at whatever pharmacy prices it lowest.
Hims vs Ro at a glance
Choose Ro if you want to see the per-dose price before you start. Choose Hims if you want the lowest advertised entry price or a combination product. Both run the same basic model: a free online assessment, review by a licensed provider, a prescription only if appropriate, and free discreet shipping on a recurring plan. Both sell FDA-approved generics and brand-name drugs alongside compounded products that are not FDA-approved. Ro says it has treated almost 2,000,000 members. Hims is a broader men's health brand that bundles ED treatment with hair, testosterone support and other products.
For deeper single-brand reviews, see our Hims ED review and Roman (Ro) ED review.
Price comparison: generic sildenafil and tadalafil
Ro publishes exact per-dose prices. Hims publishes monthly starting prices. Here is what each listed on October 30, 2026:
- Hims generic for Viagra (sildenafil): starting at $22/mo
- Hims generic for Cialis (tadalafil): starting at $24/mo
- Ro generic sildenafil: 25 mg $4, 50 mg $6, 100 mg $10 per dose. Ro's sildenafil page says the monthly plan starts at $4 a dose with an 8-dose minimum, billed $32 a month.
- Ro generic tadalafil, as needed: 5 mg $11, 10 mg $44, 20 mg $44 per dose, with dosing minimums. Ro shows the plan from $176 a month for 4 doses.
- Ro generic tadalafil, daily: 2.5 mg or 5 mg at $8 a dose. Ro's tadalafil page gives the 2.5 mg daily plan as 30 doses billed $240 a month.
Hims says the actual price depends on the product and subscription plan, and it does not show a per-dose table on its ED page, so you see the exact figure during its assessment. That makes a strict per-dose comparison impossible from public pages. What is clear: Hims has the lower advertised starting price, and Ro's per-dose list lets you calculate the monthly bill in advance. Ro's as-needed generic tadalafil at $44 a dose for 10 mg or 20 mg is expensive compared with pharmacy-first providers.
Compounded products: Hard Mints and chews vs Ro Sparks and Daily Rise
Both brands now lead with compounded products, and both say on their own pages that these are not FDA-approved.
- Hims: 3-in-1 Hard Mints from $30/mo, Sildenafil Chews and Tadalafil Chews from $30/mo, a 3-in-1 Pill from $35/mo, and "Sex Rx" 2-in-1 bundles (with hair, testosterone support, a multivitamin or cholesterol support) from $35/mo, or $39/mo with Climax Control.
- Ro: Ro Sparks, a dissolving tablet with sildenafil 55 mg and tadalafil 22 mg, at $12 a dose: $48/mo for 4 doses up to $120 for 10 on the pricing page, with plans up to 14 doses ($168/mo) on the Sparks page. Quarterly plans get a $15 discount every 3 months. Daily Rise Gummies (tadalafil 7 mg) cost $89/mo, or $69/mo on a 3-month plan.
Brand-name Viagra and Cialis
Ro publishes brand prices: Viagra at $90 a dose for 25 mg, 50 mg or 100 mg (Ro shows $360 a month for 4 doses), and Cialis at $80 a dose for 10 mg or 20 mg ($320 a month for 4 doses) or $20 a dose for daily 5 mg. Hims lists brand Viagra in its catalog, but we did not find a brand price on its ED page. Brand and generic contain the same active ingredient, so most people choose the generic on price.
Subscriptions, shipping and the consult
Both bill on recurring plans and ship for free. Ro offers monthly and quarterly ED plans and says on its pricing page that 6- or 12-month plans can save over $100 a year. Hims says the actual price depends on the plan you choose. Both start with a free online assessment, and a licensed provider decides whether to prescribe. Before you subscribe, check the renewal date, the cancellation steps, and whether the plan ships more doses than you will use.
Never combine any PDE5 inhibitor (sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil) with nitrates or riociguat. Tell the provider your full medical history and every medication you take.
Which one to choose
- Choose Ro if you want published per-dose prices, a brand-name option with a listed price, or daily generic tadalafil at a known cost.
- Choose Hims if you want the lowest advertised monthly entry price for a generic, or a bundle with hair or other men's health products.
- Choose neither if you want the lowest price per tablet or no subscription. Pharmacy-first providers such as Nu Image Medical and HealthyMale (cards above) list the FDA-approved generic for less.

- Compounded medication
- A pharmacy-prepared drug that is not FDA-approved. Hims Hard Mints and chews, Ro Sparks and Daily Rise Gummies are compounded.
- FDA-approved generic
- A drug with the same active ingredient as the brand that meets FDA standards. Both Hims and Ro sell generic sildenafil and tadalafil tablets.
Questions, answered
Is Hims or Ro cheaper for ED?
Hims advertises the lower starting price: its generic for Viagra starts at $22 a month versus Ro's generic sildenafil at $32 a month (8 doses of 25 mg at $4 each). Ro publishes per-dose prices and Hims does not, so the cheaper option depends on your dose and quantity. Prices read October 30, 2026.
What is the difference between Hims and Roman?
Roman is Ro's men's health brand, so Hims vs Roman is the same as Hims vs Ro. Both prescribe ED medication online on subscription. Ro publishes a per-dose price list and sells Ro Sparks; Hims publishes monthly starting prices and sells Hard Mints, chews and bundles.
Are Hims and Ro legit?
Yes. Both are established telehealth services where a licensed provider reviews an online assessment before prescribing. Both also sell compounded products, which are not FDA-approved, alongside FDA-approved generics.
Does Ro or Hims sell FDA-approved ED medication?
Yes. Both sell FDA-approved generic sildenafil and tadalafil, and Ro lists brand Viagra and Cialis prices. Hims Hard Mints and chews, Ro Sparks and Ro Daily Rise Gummies are compounded and not FDA-approved.
Do Hims and Ro take insurance for ED?
Both publish cash prices for ED treatment, and neither ED page we checked shows insurance pricing. Check each brand's checkout for current payment options.
Is there something cheaper than Hims and Ro?
Often, yes. Nu Image Medical lists generic sildenafil as low as $3 and tadalafil as low as $5 per tablet on a 12-month supply, and HealthyMale lists generics from about $20 with no subscription. Provider-published prices; verify current terms.
